Delight: A look into my heart

Trust in the Lord and do good;

Live in the land and cultivate faithfulness.

Delight yourself in the Lord;

And He will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord,

Trust also in Him, and He will do it.

He will bring out your righteousness as the light,

And your judgment as the noonday.

Psalm 37:3-6

Sharing my personal life isn't extremely comfortable for me, but when all I ever get to post about is business, I miss the opportunity to express true mission of Olivia Miley Events.

Six years ago, before OME launched in the fall of 2017, my life looked completely different. I was still reeling from marrying my high school sweetheart - a moment we waited and worked toward for 7 years - and I honestly have no idea what I did with so much free time! Lets just say free time has been SLIM since OME came into my life (what a blessing), so I've never really taken the time to share my heart in wedding planning.

My testimony begins at a super young age after being raised in church. I don't remember a time in life that I didn't simply have faith in Christ, but I'm so thankful for my salvation. While I did come to know the Lord when I was young, it wasn't until adulthood that I really began to dig into that faith and see my relationship with God grow.

So lets talk about my life outside of business - marriage and motherhood. Marriage is hard work! As wonderful as it is, it's one of those things that takes constant effort, is always evolving, and ultimately one of the best things in life! My husband will definitely roll his eyes when he reads this, but marriage is such a huge blessing because of the work it takes. Two incredibly independent creatures by nature, we've had to work hard to find a rhythm in life together, but we still fail each other on a daily basis. That's where God's grace comes in.

After our first year of marriage, we decided we were ready to grow our family. Fast forward 3 years and 9 months, and Ava-Blake entered our family and made it SO much sweeter! But there is no doubt that infertility rocked our world. We could not have survived that chapter of life without our belief in Christ, not to mention parenthood! We're less than 2 years in and we are far from professionals. BUT the little world of the Miley household is thriving in this chapter of life.

While you are getting the readers digest version of my personal life, you must know that all the details that fit into this story are just the very beginning of what couples are embarking on when they say I Do. I am so thankful that I get to be a part of that story for OME clients, and reveal the quiet mission of Olivia Miley Events. While they may not hear it out of my mouth, my brides and grooms are always prayed for. Their weddings aren't planned lightly. Even though weddings will always hold the frill and chaos that we love about the event itself, I work hard to integrate purpose and faith into those plans as I work with wedding vendors, meet new people, gain new clients, and integrate my business into this special chapter of their lives.

Before a not-so-easy wedding weekend, I called my assistant Jamie and gave her a pep talk that pinned our now motto, "be full of delight". Even though I was totally pumping us both up to tackle the weekend and be as sweet as can be, I couldn't get the word delight out of my head. So now, my mission in business and in life is Psalm 37:3-6. While my client's wedding day is prayed for throughout the planning process, I'm also committing my role in that day to delight the Lord through my role as a wedding planner, commit my work to the Lord, and trust in the Lord as I work to do good. So while you may only see posts about why every bride needs to hire a wedding coordinator and how each one of our wedding days ends up with a beautiful result, I hope you know the purpose behind those business-y posts are more than what we could share in an instagram caption or even a super long blog post! What a delight it is to be a wife, a mom, and a wedding planner!
